A short tip for Friday this week…

EOS 60D Movie Mode

EOS 60D Movie Mode

With several EOS Models that shoot HD Movies, switching to shoot in Manual exposure is simply a matter of turning the mode dial around to ‘M’. However, on the EOS 60D, it’s not quite so simple because the movie function is accessed from the mode dial and it therefore can’t be in two places at once.

Fortunately, all is not lost. With the mode dial set to the Movie icon, press the menu button on the back of the camera. The first red menu screen (the one furthest left) will have an option at the top called ‘Movie Exposure’. It will be defaulted to ‘Auto’. Simply press the SET button and scroll the rear command dial to choose ‘Manual’. Lo, your EOS 60D will now be in manual movie shooting mode so you have control of your shutter speed (crucial), aperture and ISO.
