A few jokes - for ADULTS
A bloke was sitting on a bus when a gorgeous woman next to him starts breastfeeding her baby. The baby won't take it so she says, "Come on, eat it all up or I'll give it to this nice man here." Ten minutes later, the baby is still not feeding so she says again, "Eat it all up or I'll give it to this nice man here."
The bloke says, "Listen, love, can you make your mind up, I should've got off four stops ago!"
Paddy and his wife were discussing their sex life. Paddy said, "I want to try that wheelbarrow position tonight."
His wife asked, "What is that?"
Paddy told her, "You bend over, put your hands on the floor then I pick your legs up and take you from behind!"
His wife said, "Hmm, okay, I'll do it on two conditions. First, if it hurts you stop immediately and, second, ... we don't go down past my mother's house!"
A lesbian went for a smear test and the doctor told her, "That's the cleanest vagina I've seen!" The lesbian replied, "Yes, I have a woman in twice a week!"
My teenage son told me that he had sex with the neighbour's daughter last night for the first time. "Well done, son," I said, "I hope you used something though?"
He replied, "Yeah, a balaclava!"

Pretty much as new. Only used a couple of times as was overkill for 70-200 + extender. No packaging. £150.

What software do you use to manage your images?
Hi - I used to use Lightroom and CS3, then I swapped to DPP and CS4.
I've also used Breeze for a while, but didn;t get on with it.
I now use Bridge, ACR and CS5 and of all of the combinations I've used before, this seems to be best and most intuitive.

Do I upgrade my pc or convert to Mac?
Hi
I've not been on for a while, but have just noticed this thread and thought I'd add my tuppence worth.
I bought a reasonably powerful quad-core PC about a year or more ago and got a great deal on it. It had one major flaw - Vista.
I now know why it was a bargain - Windows 7 came out a few weeks later.
Anyway, I've now converted to 7 via a clean install, and I have to say it is a fantastic operating system. Vista used to hang all of the time and was utter sh*te - 7 is a dream for what I use the PC for - photo editing, storage and web.
I note what DN says about his Macs in terms of overall value and resale. I can't comment on Macs re their operation as I've never used one, but I have to say that I've not found fault with my PC and 7 so far.

It's a tough one to call. If you look at absolute upfront costs, PCs seem cheaper to buy. However, factor in the hassle of getting stuff to work properly, anti-virus software, less stable and lass capable operating system and the non-existent retail value of a Windows PC, and suddenly over a lifetime, they don't seem such a good deal.
You know I was always on the PC side of things. However, Macs moved to intel processors and while they are more expensive than a PC, in the long run they make more sense.
To give you an example, I bought a Mac Book Pro. I kept it for two years and then sold it. That's novel in itself (how many people would buy a 2yr old Windows computer? Thought not.) I got a reasonable price for it, so the total cost of ownership over the two years was much less than had I gone and bought a PC.
Sure they've not embaraced USB3 yet....but have you got any USB3 drives? I now run both a MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro and I have never had any trouble with them at all.
My vote would be to seriously consider the Mac route.

I went through this a few months ago and ended up buying.....................a camera I will at some point be upgrading my PC but i think will stay with a PC, The only advantage i can see with a mac is the lack of virus's but with good use of an anti virus software you should still be good with a PC, The downsides to me of a mac apart from the rip off costs of the main unit are the lack of USB 3,The cost of new RAM and Hard drives The new imacs have just been announced and they are still USB2
The Canon/Nikon debate is easy-when a Canon user says that their system is the best they have their fingers crossed behind their backs

Do I upgrade my pc or convert to Mac?
Ok, so this should open things up to a bit of a debate.
I want to upgrade my computers and I could either just get a better spec pc (straight swap) or go down the Mac route. This would mean changing both pc's to Mac pros and would mean changing a lot of software too.
After lots of research it seems like the actual internals of the 2 types of computers are pretty much the same but I'd need to spend more on the Mac's (more than double the cost of just getting a decent workstation pc) to replace my whole set up. Therefore, if it's just the operating system that's different is the Mac option worth the expense? Is it that much better?
I'm thinking the response I get will probably be the same when photographers are asked if Canon's better than Nikon with the owners of each saying theirs is best but any more in depth info/help would certainly be of help to me.
Thanks.

What software do you use to manage your images?
Hello everyone,
I thought I would create a new post and find out what software do you use...
How do you manage your images? What software do you use as a part of your digital workflow? Would it be Lightroom? Or maybe Photoshop? Or maybe something else?
Let me know. |

Please could someone answer this question that has been bugging me for some time
How many AF points on the EOS 1D Mark 1V are 'cross-type' AF points?
Thank you

Download memory issue
Thanks for the reply. Yes a card reader would be good as the only way I got the images all over was using the card reading in an Epson printer and then slowly copying the images across. Have a feeling that goes through at USB 1 speeds so a newer dedicated USB 2 card reader may help. Processor is ok being an Intel Core 2 6600 runing at 2.4GHz. The computer has no problem handling the images when they are there so it is only downloading that seems an issue. I have installed the dpp software and I will stop Elements 7 from taking over automatically.
Thanks again and if you are ever running an EOS 50D dedicated course anywhere near Birmingham let me know! Rod Lane. |
