Can anyone one tell me whether I can batch process some jpegs (at least 250) using DPP or Paintshop, as I need to  tweak a bit in levels and also sharpen. I don't want have do each one separately unless I have to, due to the time aspect. The images are part of some star trails I've been doing which are then stacked using the Startrails app'. If they are put together as one image, then its no problem to do a certain amount on the final file, however if they are going to be a short avi then obviously I can't do it on the final file. I know it can be done on PS but I don't have that -  nor likely to in the near future.

Robbie I think you will find that DPP doesn't like JPEG's (?) it is primary for RAW. However, the other software I have no idea as it's not something I would use. Perhaps you could ask a friend who has PS?

Hi Steve, cheers. I was aware that DPP was primarily for raw but was just wondering. I was trying to avoid doing them in raw due to the number of exposures nessarcery - to give you some idea, 136 frames of 30 seconds each exposure will create about 8 seconds of star trail 'movie'. I may try some 'in camera' sharpening to see how it turns out.

Cheers .   Robbie

You can convert from raw to jpg and resize as a batch process in DPP, then make a script to do levels and sharpening to do the batch process in photoshop.

Cool

Robbie,

You can use DPP to adjust JPEGs - as long as it is minimal. These adjustments can then be applied to other images. So you ould adjust one, then apply the same adjustment to all the others if you wanted to.

Open and image, make some changes using the RGB tab. Close out to thumbnail view. Select the iamge you've adjusted, choose edit>copy recipe to clipboard. Select all other iamges, choose edit>paste recipe to selected image. Confirm you want to adjust all images. Done.

Cheers Dave, what I want to do is adjust the levels a very small amount and then sharpen. When I did these exposures the other night, I set the shutter speed to 30s and had my lens wide open. I then had the the drive mode to high speed cont' and locked the release - all for ease of use really. It turned out that 30s wasn't enough, but during the exposures the northern lights gave a brief show which is why I want to perservere with it, I'll see if I can do it the way you sugest if not I'll have to do each one in turn   Cry  Many thanks.

Cheers Dave, new about the 'recipes' but not that you can tinker with JPEGs, good to know. Smile
