Wireless everything at Focus

EOS Network, Brian and Dave will be presenting without wires on Canon’s stand (L26) at Focus on Imaging starting this Sunday.

Each day of the show we will be running demonstrations live on the Canon booth to show the capabilities of Canon wireless photo solutions.

Have you seen Canon tablet and smartphone app EOS Remote controlling an EOS 6D from an iPad? Come see us and you will. How about wireless studio workflow with an EOS 5D Mark III, Wireless File Transmission, Wireless Speedlite flash and even Wireless printing to the PIXMA Pro-10. To cap it all we have some lovely models to photograph and show you a complete end-to-end wireless workflow from lighting, capture and print.

There are four demos during each day and the first one is at 10:15 each morning, so remember to stop by and say hello.

If you can’t make it to the show then book a place on our upcoming Advanced Speedlite Flash workshop on Saturday 23rd March being held in Wargrave near Reading and find out what you can really do with Canon off-camera Speedlites.

EOS Network at Photovision

Earlier this week Dave and myself headed out bright and early from Heathrow to Dublin to present at Photovision roadshow at Croke Park. It was great to be invited to put on a program of seminars for Canon Ireland at the show, with a live shoot to show the Speedlite 600EX-RT flashes, workflow with tethered shooting and printing with the PIXMA Pro1.

The image at the top of this post was taken to show the reliability and range of the radio flash communications, we used an EF 200mm f/2L IS USM lens and just kept getting further away from the demonstration area. To be honest, 20 meters is not a hard test, but we didn’t have a longer lens to hand.

Adobe Creative Cloud #CS6

Categories: 3rd Party News - Tags:

I’m willing to bet that 99% of you own and use Adobe Photoshop to a greater or lesser degree. As you may be aware, the latest release is CS6 and with it, Adobe have switched to a ‘Creative Cloud’ arrangement.

One of the biggest stumbling blocks to people buying Photoshop is the cost. It is not cheap. However, Creative Cloud provides a different way to spread it out. Instead of buying a box set (which you can still do…) you buy a subscription to a web service that allows you to download and use all of the Adobe Apps as you need them. It’s still not truly cheap, but it does spread the cost nicely. For those of you using Lightroom, there is another reason to make a switch – Lightroom 4 is now included within the Creative Cloud offering. For £46.88 per month you get access to all the Adobe apps including Photoshop Extended, Premiere Pro, SpeedGrade, After Effects, Lightroom 4, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver and many others. Basically everything you might need for stills and video editing, web building and PDF creation or editing. And if you only want one or two apps – that’s all you install!

Given the shift in the photographic world, with the continued growth of HD DSLR video, this does make a great way to get hold of all the apps you might need, in a cheaper and easier to swallow monthly pill.

What are your thoughts on this? Will you switch to Creative Cloud or not?

EOS 5D Mark II, yes Mk2, firmware update 2.1.2 for UDMA 7 cards

Categories: Canon News - Tags: ,

Somehow we missed this firmware update that popped up a few days ago, but given that the firmware page on the site is one of the consistently popular pages here it’s obviously valuable to mention.

Firmware 2.1.2 for EOS 5D Mark II

Canon claims that this latest firmware update for the EOS 5D Mark II improves compatibility with some UDMA 7 cards that were launched in February 2012. It’s great to see that even with the EOS 5D Mark III uppermost in Canon’s mind they still keep supporting the outgoing model, I think there’s a lot of film makers using EOS 5D Mark II cameras with the latest generation 128GB UDMA 7 cards.

Download EOS 5D Mark II – firmware 2.1.2

If you need firmware for any other cameras don’t forget there is almost surely a link on the firmware downloads page.
