Weekly quiz answer #2

Categories: Tips and Advice - Tags:

The weekly quiz question was all about cameras and flash functions, we asked which cameras have a dedicated flash exposure lock button. Whilst the EOS-1D Mark IV was an abvious choice with a button labelled FEL right next to the shutter button, the other valid answer is the EOS 7D.

The M.Fn button is a programmable button on the EOS 7D however by default it is programmed as Flash Exposure Lock (FEL). These are the only two cameras in the list that have a button dedicated to flash exposure lock since the EOS 5D Mark II and EOS 60D flash exposure lock function is linked with the ambient exposure lock function on the * button by default, there’s no dedicated separate button for FEL on these models. Maybe you’d like to find out more about making use of the features of the Canon flash system on our Speedlite workshop?

For this week the question is to test your knowledge of exposure bracketing.

Question #3

What's the maximum number of bracketed exposures that any EOS camera can take without your interference in changing settings?

Weekly quiz answer #1

The weekly quiz question was all about macro lenses last week, and from looking at the results few of you have been caught out by the question. Indeed the EF 50mm f/2.5 Macro lens can only achieve half lifesize magnification on it’s own. Canon have a matching Life Size Converter that allows the lens to acheive 1:1 magnification. These two are among the oldest lenses in the current Canon lens line as they were introduced way back at the beginning of the EOS system. The EF 50mm f/2.5 Macro is an amazing lens if you are ever asked to copy documents and artworks and it easily is able to match with the current 21MP cameras.

For this week the question is to test your knowledge of the cameras and the flash functions. Also for this weeks quiz you can select multiple answers if you think it’s appropriate.

Question #2

Which of the following cameras has a dedicated button for flash exposure lock?

The weekly quiz question #1

Today we have relaunched one of the popular features from the previous site design, the weekly quiz. Each week it’s time for the site visitors to pit their knowledge of photography, Canon cameras, lenses, flash, software and all kinds of accessories against the question masters, aka Brian & Dave. Each week on a Monday we’ll put a question up on the side bar of the blog and other pages on the site and you have until the following Sunday afternoon to enter the quiz. Then on the Monday you will find the answers to the question on the blog and a new weekly quiz.

This week the question is nice and simple but if you are stuck for an answer then you might be interested in our Macro photography workshop, though you’ll learn much more than the specifications of different lenses on our courses.

This weeks question

Which one of the Canon macro lenses does not provide lifesize or 1:1 magnification without any additional adapters or converters?
